To avoid the crowds at the gorge (especially during the summer months) or going the same way twice, visitors can explore the interesting circular route Vintgar-Hom hill-Vintgar. The trail leads through the Vintgar gorge, passes the viewpoint at Hom which offers beautiful views of the Gorenjska region, and follows a scenic route along Hom’s southern slopes.

Warnings: The trails can be slippery in rain so care is advised, especially from the Šum waterfall towards the Church of St Catherine on Hom. Part of the route (from the church towards the Vintgar car park) is largely exposed to the sun in the summer months.
Starting point: Vintgar car park
The 1.6km trail through the Vintgar gorge leads over wooden bridges. From the Šum waterfall, follow the signs for the Church of St Catherine, which mark a 20-minute walk through the forest to the church and Hom viewpoint. Continue walking along Podhom edge and follow the signs for Vintgar car park along the foot of the hill to return to the starting point.
